Hiring for a Technical Engineer Manager (Application Team);YoE: 8+ years of software engineering experience with 2-3+ years leading teams of 5+ in a formal leadership role; Location: Bengaluru, India (Hybrid/On-site),
About the Role:
We are looking for a Technical Engineering Manager who is still "hands-on" at heart. You will not just manage people; you will drive technical architecture, mentor senior engineers, and own the delivery of complex, data-heavy modules. You will lead a pod responsible for core platform features (e.g., Discovery Engine, Automation Workflows, or Identity Governance).
Key Responsibilities :
● Architectural Leadership: Lead system design for high-scale applications using modern database and caching technologies.
● Team Management: Mentor, coach, and manage the performance of 8-12 engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and ownership.
● Delivery Execution: Own sprint planning and the end-to-end delivery of complex features, balancing shipping speed with technical stability.
● Code Quality: Enforce high engineering standards through rigorous code reviews and implementation of best practices in the application layer.
● Production Reliability: Champion an "You Build It, You Run It" mindset, ensuring high availability and uptime for mission-critical services.
● Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate closely with Product Managers to translate requirements into robust technical specifications.
● Hiring: Actively participate in recruiting top engineering talent to scale the application team.
What We Are Looking For:
Must-Haves:
● Experience: 8+ years of software engineering experience with 2-3+ years leading teams of 5+ in a formal leadership role.
● Core Stack: Expert-level proficiency in Backend or Frontend development.
● Database Mastery: Strong hands-on experience with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis or similar systems in a production environment.
● Scalability: Proven track record of designing and managing highly scalable distributed systems, including experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure.
● Education: B.E/B.Tech in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
● Hiring: Proven ability to recruit, develop, and retain strong engineers
Nice-to-Haves:
● Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment (0 to 1 or 1 to 10 journey).
● Experience with observability tools and production monitoring
● Hands-on experience with Node.js.
● SaaS DNA: Prior experience in a high-growth B2B SaaS product company, with an understanding of multi-tenancy and API rate limits.
● Familiarity with identity protocols (SAML, OAuth, OIDC, SCIM)
