Head of Growth

Location: Remote | Type: Full-time

The Role

As Head of Growth, you will own the full growth engine โ€” acquisition, activation, free-to-paid conversion, retention, and monetization โ€” across our consumer app, Chrome extension, and emerging API/enterprise motion. You'll be our first senior growth leader, working directly with the founders.

We are past the "prove the product" stage and are now scaling aggressively. We are well-capitalized and prepared to invest meaningfully behind growth โ€” including significant performance marketing budgets โ€” provided every dollar is deployed with clear unit economics.

You will have real budget, real ownership, and the mandate to build a repeatable, measurable growth machine across the US, India, and other high-potential markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the growth model end-to-end: Define the north-star metric and build the funnel instrumentation, dashboards, and experimentation cadence for acquisition โ†’ activation โ†’ retention โ†’ revenue.
  • Free-to-paid conversion: Design and run experiments on paywalls, pricing, trials, and packaging to materially lift conversion from our large free base to Pro subscribers.
  • International expansion: Build market-specific playbooks for high-traction geographies (India, Brazil, Southeast Asia, and other emerging markets) โ€” localized pricing, payment methods, positioning, and channel mix.
  • Performance marketing at scale: Own the paid acquisition engine โ€” Meta, Google/UAC, Apple Search Ads, YouTube, and programmatic โ€” from creative strategy and audience testing to budget allocation and scaling, with disciplined CAC/LTV and payback economics. Our attribution stack (MMP) and analytics foundation are already in place with baseline CAC established โ€” your job is to scale spend efficiently on top of it, layering in incrementality testing as budgets grow.
  • Organic channel strategy: Complement paid with ASO/SEO, content, referrals/virality loops, and influencer and community programs to keep blended CAC healthy as spend scales.
  • Activation & onboarding: Partner with product and engineering to reduce time-to-value (first captured meeting, first "aha" recall moment) and improve D1/D7/D30 retention.
  • Pricing & monetization: Own pricing research and regional pricing strategy across consumer Pro, Max tiers and enterprise offerings.
  • Build the team: Hire and lead a small, high-leverage growth pod (growth PM, analyst, lifecycle marketer) as the function scales.
  • Voice of the market: Feed market and competitive intelligence and user insight back into the product roadmap.

Skills Required

  • Deep fluency in product-led growth (PLG) and freemium subscription economics (conversion, churn, expansion, LTV/CAC, payback).
  • Strong experimentation rigor: A/B testing, funnel analytics, cohort analysis; hands-on with tools like Amplitude/Mixpanel, AppsFlyer/Adjust, SQL a big plus.
  • Performance marketing expertise (must-have): Hands-on experience managing and scaling large paid acquisition budgets across Meta, Google App Campaigns, Apple Search Ads, and YouTube โ€” including creative testing frameworks, bid/budget optimization, attribution (MMPs like AppsFlyer/Adjust, SKAN), and scaling spend while protecting CAC and payback windows.
  • Proven ability to grow consumer mobile apps (iOS + Android) โ€” ASO, store conversion, subscription paywalls, and mobile retention mechanics.
  • Experience with emerging-market growth (India, Brazil, SEA): localized pricing, UPI/local payments, vernacular positioning, and low-CAC channel building.
  • Lifecycle and retention marketing: push/email/in-app messaging strategy that drives habit formation without feeling invasive.
  • Comfort operating in 0โ†’1 ambiguity at a seed-stage startup: scrappy, hands-on, willing to run campaigns yourself before hiring.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management with technical founders.
  • Bonus: familiarity with AI/productivity tools, developer/API go-to-market, or B2B2C motions.

Qualifications

  • 7โ€“12 years in growth, with at least 3 years leading growth at a consumer app, SaaS, or AI product company.
  • Demonstrated track record of scaling a product from tens of thousands to millions of users, or meaningfully improving paid conversion/revenue at scale.
  • Experience at a venture-backed startup (seed to Series B) strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or related field; MBA optional โ€” outcomes matter more than credentials.
  • Comfortable working remotely with some overlap across US time zones for founder collaboration.

Your First 90 Days

Days 1โ€“30 โ€” Learn & Diagnose

  • Deep-dive into the product, the existing analytics/attribution stack, and current funnel; interview users across segments and geographies.
  • Audit the full funnel: install โ†’ activation โ†’ habit โ†’ paid conversion โ†’ retention. Identify the top 3 leaks.
  • Review existing CAC baselines by channel and market; pressure-test attribution quality and identify where current spend is most and least efficient.
  • Align with the founders on the north-star metric and growth targets.
  • Map market landscape and pricing benchmarks across key geographies.

Days 31โ€“60 โ€” Quick Wins & Spend Ramp

  • Launch the first wave of high-confidence experiments (onboarding flow, paywall placement/timing, pricing tests in 1โ€“2 markets).
  • Begin ramping paid spend on the most efficient existing channels against baseline CAC; open structured tests on 1โ€“2 new channels and stand up a creative testing pipeline.
  • Stand up a weekly growth review and experimentation cadence with clear hypotheses and success criteria.
  • Ship an India-market pilot: localized pricing + payment methods + one scalable acquisition channel.
  • Define the hiring plan for the growth pod.

Days 61โ€“90 โ€” Scale Spend & Systemize

  • Scale winning paid channels aggressively with clear CAC/payback guardrails; kill what isn't working.
  • Present a 12-month growth strategy and budget to the founders: paid spend ramp plan, channel mix, conversion targets, international roadmap, and team plan.
  • Deliver measurable movement on at least one core metric (e.g., free-to-paid conversion, CAC efficiency, or D30 retention).
  • Begin first growth hires (performance marketer likely among the first).
