Backend Engineer (SDE 2) – Go/Python

Position Overview

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to build and own scalable backend services for a high-performance financial platform. This is an ownership-driven role where you'll design, develop, deploy, and support production-grade microservices. You'll primarily work with Go / Python to build reliable, secure, and scalable distributed systems.

You will work in a fast-paced engineering environment where AI-assisted development is part of the daily workflow, enabling engineers to deliver high-quality software efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend microservices using Go/ Python.
• Build event-driven applications using Kafka for transaction processing and system communication.
• Develop REST APIs and real-time backend services.
• Work with SQL and NoSQL databases to build scalable, high-performance applications.
• Integrate with third-party APIs and external systems.
• Own services end-to-end, including design, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and production support.
• Debug distributed systems using logging, tracing, and monitoring tools.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Leverage AI coding tools effectively while ensuring code quality and correctness.

Required Qualifications

Must Have

• 3–4 years of hands-on backend development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Go and/or Python.
• Experience building production-grade microservices and REST APIs.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS, or similar messaging systems.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Solid understanding of concurrency, multithreading, API design, and distributed systems.
• Experience with Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS.
• Demonstrated ownership of backend services from development through production support.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in FinTech, Trading, Payments, or WealthTech.
• Experience building real-time applications using WebSockets.
• Familiarity with MongoDB, Redis, and TimescaleDB.
• Experience with OpenTelemetry or other observability tools.
• Hands-on experience using AI coding tools such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor.
• Understanding of secure application development and data encryption.
