The Opportunity
A leading tech-enabled services company is hiring a President to lead and scale the India business from its current base to ₹1,000 Cr+. This is a high-ownership, P&L-level role with a clear CEO transition path within 12–18 months.
The company operates a growing network of physical centres across India, is launching an international B2B services business, and is building a direct-to-consumer product vertical. The India retail services business is the core, and it needs a leader who has built and scaled this exact kind of operation before.
This is not a support function or a strategy role. You will run the business end-to-end, with the CEO stepping back progressively.
Why This Role Exists
The company recently exited a senior hire who was brought in for this role but could not operate in a metric-driven, tech-first execution environment. The leadership style was traditional: slow on systems adoption, uncomfortable with 50-60 live metrics at a store level, and unable to match the execution cadence the business demands.
The CEO is now clear: the next leader must come from the new-age, tech-enabled scaling ecosystem. No compromises on this.
What You Will Own
Core (Immediate)
* Full P&L ownership for the India business across a multi-city centre network
* Marketing + Operations as an integrated business function (not siloed)
* Retail expansion and multi-city scaling: centre-level economics, throughput, service quality
* Performance marketing, funnel optimization, and growth systems
* HR, People Processes, and Org Design: PMS, OKRs, balanced scorecards, execution tracking cadence
Secondary (Builds Over Time)
* Product-Tech: Dotted line or direct ownership of product and tech teams that power service delivery
* International Business: B2B services model targeting large institutional partners. International entity launching soon. Potential to straddle India + International under one leader
* Finance: Nice-to-have, not a requirement
The Leader We Are Looking For
The reference set is specific: think of leaders who have built and scaled operations at companies like Lenskart, PhysicsWallah, Curefit, SleepCompany, or similar tech-enabled, retail-services-heavy businesses.
Must-Haves
* Retail Services Scaling: Scaled a people-intensive, multi-location services business (not just retail product). Understands the difference in metric complexity, people intensity, and operational depth.
* Tech-First Operating DNA: Operates on 50+ live metrics. Comfortable with store-level dashboards, tech-driven execution, product-led workflows. This is non-negotiable.
* Rapid Scale Track Record: Has been part of scaling from ~100 to 5,000–20,000+ people in a 3–5 year period. Knows what 5x execution looks like.
* New-Age Leadership Style: OKR-driven, system-driven, data-first. Not traditional command-and-control. Comfortable with young, high-velocity teams.
* Span of Control: Has held a CBO / Business Head / Regional CEO role with direct ownership of marketing, ops, and people functions. Not a functional specialist.
Strong Preferences
* Experience in D2C services, wellness, healthcare, or allied retail-services sectors
* Some exposure to product-tech teams, even if via dotted lines or regional structures
* B2B exposure (partnerships, enterprise sales) is a bonus given the international model
* Open to international talent (expats, not just returning Indians) who have scaled service operations in Europe, Middle East, or Southeast Asia
