AI & Process Automation Engineer
AI & Automation Engineer
Location: Bangalore (on-site preferred)
Reporting to: Chief Business Officer
About the Opportunity
We are working with a fast-growing Bangalore-based real estate developer with a portfolio spanning premium residential developments, Grade A commercial real estate, commercial leasing and institutional transactions.
The business is investing in AI, automation and digital transformation to improve operational efficiency across departments. This is an opportunity to become the organisation's first dedicated AI and Automation hire, with the autonomy to build practical solutions from the ground up and shape how AI is adopted across the business.
The Role
This is a hands-on, individual-contributor role for someone who can turn business requirements into working AI tools, automate manual processes, integrate business systems and drive adoption among non-technical teams.
You will work directly with senior business leadership, own technical implementation and make key decisions independently. The role combines AI engineering, workflow automation, enterprise systems integration and business process transformation.
There is potential to build a small technical team as the function grows.
Key Responsibilities
1. Build and deploy AI solutions
- Develop AI agents and applications for customer enquiries, business intelligence and operational workflows.
- Build end-to-end solutions using LLM APIs, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), workflow automation and relevant full-stack technologies.
- Translate business requirements into functional tools with clear acceptance criteria.
- Deploy, monitor and maintain solutions, troubleshoot issues, manage output quality and optimise operating costs.
2. Drive business systems integration
- Represent the organisation in ERP evaluation and implementation, working alongside external technology vendors.
- Coordinate vendor relationships across functions such as HR, finance and administration.
- Integrate business applications, including CRM and accounting systems, to reduce manual data entry and fragmented workflows.
3. Lead AI adoption and process transformation
- Map existing departmental workflows and identify high-impact opportunities for AI and automation.
- Assess where automation is appropriate and where existing processes should remain unchanged.
- Train non-technical teams, drive adoption and support users after deployment.
- Track measurable outcomes, including time saved, cost reduction and operational efficiency.
4. Establish systems and data foundations
- Improve data hygiene and structure spreadsheet-driven processes.
- Build reliable foundations for integrations, automation and future AI initiatives.
What We're Looking For
- Several years of hands-on AI or automation delivery experience.
- Evidence of personally building and deploying AI-driven tools used by non-technical users.
- Practical experience with LLM APIs, RAG and workflow automation platforms such as n8n, Zapier or Power Automate.
- Sufficient full-stack engineering capability to deliver working solutions across backend, frontend, integrations and deployment.
- Experience operating independently in a lean environment, making technical decisions and owning delivery end to end.
- Experience working with external vendors on business-system implementations or integrations, such as ERP, CRM or accounting platforms.
- Ability to train non-technical stakeholders, manage adoption challenges and demonstrate measurable business impact.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business needs into practical technical solutions.
Good to Have
- Exposure to SAP, Tally or other ERP and accounting systems.
- Experience in real estate, PropTech or other businesses with spreadsheet-heavy and legacy-tool-driven operations.
- Experience establishing a new technical function or mentoring and hiring engineers.
- Experience in an in-house technology team, consulting or implementation environments.
Who Will Thrive in This Role?
Someone who enjoys building rather than just advising, is comfortable working with business stakeholders, can independently take ideas into production and wants ownership of a company's AI and automation journey.
This is not a strategy-only role or a conventional software engineering position isolated from business operations. It requires both technical execution and the ability to make technology useful in everyday business workflows.
Interview Process
Candidates should be prepared to discuss an AI or automation initiative they personally owned from conception through deployment, including implementation challenges, production issues, operating costs and business outcomes. The process may also include a practical prototype or technical demonstration.
