Role Overview:
Lead the next phase of AI innovation in intelligent eye care, building clinically validated, regulatory-compliant AI systems that scale globally and drive real-world health impact.
Responsibilities:
* Own AI Vision and Execution: Define and drive the end-to-end AI strategy, roadmap, architecture, and deployment across edge/offline medical devices.
* Lead and Build the AI Team: Manage and mentor a high-performing AI/ML team while remaining hands-on with model development and experimentation.
* Deliver Clinical-Grade AI: Develop and optimise computer vision models (CNNs, Vision Transformers, etc. ) for retinal imaging and systemic disease insights with world-class accuracy.
* Ensure Regulatory Excellence: Oversee compliance with FDA Good ML Practices, EU AI Act, ISO 13485 and other global regulatory standards.
* Drive Innovation and Collaboration: Partner closely with clinical, product, and regulatory teams; contribute to patents, publications, and thought leadership in healthcare AI.
Requirements:
* 8+ years of experience in AI/ML, preferably in medtech or healthcare AI.
* Strong expertise in computer vision, deep learning (CNNs, ViTs), and model deployment on edge devices.
* Proven experience leading AI teams and delivering production-grade AI systems.
* Deep understanding of medical device regulations and validation frameworks.
* Prior experience building FDA-cleared or CE-marked AI products.
* Publications in top-tier AI/medical journals or conferences.
* Experience with multimodal learning and systemic disease prediction.
* Exposure to global health or large-scale population screening programs.
* Entrepreneurial or startup leadership experience.
* Preferred: Master's or PhD in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, or related field.
