About Client

Client is building a next-generation consumer platform at the intersection of social media,

gaming, and markets. Backed by experienced founders and operating in true 0-to-1 mode,

the company is building a high-engagement consumer product designed for scale from day

one.

This is not a conventional “tech lead” role. Client is looking for its first engineering hire —

someone who wants to architect the platform, build the core backend systems personally,

and help shape the company’s technical foundation from scratch.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a Backend Platform Engineer / Tech Lead who is deeply hands-on and

excited by early-stage building.

You will work directly with the founders to:

• Design backend architecture
• Build scalable systems from scratch
• Own infrastructure and deployments
• Ship product features rapidly
• Establish engineering foundations for future scale
• This role is ideal for someone who enjoys ambiguity, autonomy, and technical ownership —
• and wants to be a builder first.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and build backend systems for a consumer-scale platform
• Design APIs, services, databases, and platform infrastructure
• Own DevOps, cloud infrastructure, deployments, and observability
• Build scalable and reliable distributed systems
• Collaborate directly with founders on product and technical direction
• Make key technical decisions across architecture and tooling
• Help establish engineering best practices from the ground up
• Eventually help hire and mentor the engineering team as the company scales

Must-Have Requirements

• 5–8 years of backend engineering experience
• Strong hands-on coding expertise in backend/platform engineering
• Experience building products from 0-to-1
• Prior experience in early-stage startups (Seed–Series B preferred)
• Ability to personally own architecture + implementation
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and scalable backend design
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and DevOps ownership
• Comfortable working in lean, high-intensity startup environments
• Willingness to work onsite from Gurugram

Preferred Background

• Consumer tech / gaming / fintech / social platform experience
• Experience handling high-scale user systems
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows
• IIT / NIT / Tier-1 engineering background preferred
• Experience being among the first few engineers at a startup

Tech Environment

Stack is flexible — strong engineering fundamentals matter more than specific technologies.
