The Mandate

Own the end-to-end supply chain for a fast-scaling, electronics-heavy manufacturing platform — from capital equipment and civil build-out through to production BOM sourcing, cost engineering, localisation and working-capital efficiency. This role converts manufacturing capacity into a competitive cost position and is central to margin, cash, supply continuity and scheme-compliance (PLI/ECMS/DVA).

Key Responsibilities

–Capex procurement — own the ₹300–500 Cr capital programme spanning civil/infrastructure, feeder-plant machinery, SMT / motor / assembly lines and tooling — including sourcing lines and box-build capacity through ODM/OEM equipment partners; run competitive tendering, technical-commercial evaluation, and delegation-of-authority discipline (min. 3 quotes, capex register, ±budget control).

–Electronics & BOM sourcing — lead category strategy for electronics-heavy BOMs — ICs/chipsets, passives, connectors, magnets, laminations, copper, plastics and commodities; hold direct semiconductor/chipset supplier relationships and manage allocation cycles across the global distributor and factory-direct base.

–Localisation & value engineering — build a structured localisation roadmap to reduce import dependency and lift domestic value addition (DVA) for PLI/ECMS; run should-cost / BOM-benchmarking and vendor-development programmes to localise components without compromising quality.

–Strategic sourcing & supplier development — negotiate master agreements and long-term contracts, develop India, China, Korea and SE-Asia supplier bases, and consolidate volume across product lines to secure price, capacity and continuity.

–Working capital & risk — optimise inventory, payment terms and vendor financing; manage supply-continuity risk through dual-sourcing, safety stock, forex and tariff/geopolitical exposure in coordination with Finance.

–Trade, customs & scheme compliance — own import/customs strategy, FTA/CEPA utilisation, bonded-warehouse/MOOWR options, and PLI/ECMS documentation and DVA-compliance with Finance and external counsel.

–Quality, sustainability & contracts — embed supplier quality (SQE, PPAP where relevant) and export-grade compliance (RoHS/REACH, conflict-minerals); own supplier contracts, MSAs and audit readiness with Legal.

–Digital & governance — stand up S&OP/planning discipline, drive SAP MM adoption and procurement digitisation (incl. AI-assisted sourcing and spend analytics), and report supply, cost and risk metrics to the President.

–NPI sourcing — provide early supplier involvement and design-for-cost input to R&D so new products land cost-competitive and supply-ready.

–Team — build and lead a category-led SCM organisation (electronics, motors/mechanical, plastics/commodities, capex/MRO, planning, logistics, SQE, cost engineering).

Key Performance Indicators

–Material cost savings % vs. budget and purchase-price variance (PPV).

–Capex delivered on time and within ±budget.

–Localisation / DVA % achieved against scheme targets.

–Supplier on-time-in-full (OTIF) and zero supply-driven line stoppages.

–Inventory turns and working-capital (days) improvement.

–PLI/ECMS claim compliance and realisation.

Candidate Profile

–15+ years in supply chain / strategic sourcing within electronics, EMS, appliance or automotive-electronics manufacturing, with a substantial share owning electronics BOMs.

–Demonstrated ownership of large capex programmes (machinery, lines, civil) AND high-volume production BOM — ideally both.

–Strong, current chipset/semiconductor and component-supplier network; fluency with allocation cycles and global sourcing (China/Korea/SE-Asia).

–Proven localisation / import-substitution record; comfort with PLI/ECMS/DVA or equivalent scheme compliance.

–Should-cost / BOM-benchmarking rigour; SAP MM (or equivalent ERP) power user; data-driven negotiator.

–Has built and led a sourcing organisation through a growth/scale-up phase.

Key Competencies

–Category management and should-cost expertise.

–Negotiation, supplier development and capex/project procurement.

–Trade, customs and scheme-compliance fluency.

–Supply-risk management (dual-sourcing, forex, tariff, geopolitical).

–Cross-functional influence across Finance, R&D, Operations and Quality.

Preferred / Advantageous

–Background at a leading electronics/appliance OEM or Tier-1 EMS.

–Exposure to motor/BLDC, PCBA and box-build supply chains simultaneously.

–Experience introducing procurement automation / AI-assisted sourcing.
