AVP- Finance
About the role:
We are looking for an experienced AVP Finance to take ownership of the company's finance function and work closely with the Founder and senior leadership team on financial planning, business performance, profitability, cash flows and strategic decision-making.
This is a broad finance leadership role requiring strong understanding across financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, financial analysis, P&L, cash-flow management, working capital and financial controls.
A key priority of the role will be to strengthen the company's planning, forecasting and business performance management capabilities, while ensuring strong financial discipline and reporting across the organization.
The individual will play a hands-on role in building scalable finance processes, improving financial visibility and partnering with business leaders as the company grows, with the opportunity to progressively take on broader finance leadership and grow toward a future VP Finance / CFO role.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Planning & Business Performance
- Lead the company's overall financial planning and performance management activities.
- Own the AOP, annual budgeting and periodic forecasting process.
- Develop financial models to support business planning and decision-making.
- Prepare revenue, cost, margin, profitability and cash-flow forecasts.
- Conduct budget vs. actual and forecast vs. actual analysis.
- Identify key financial and operational drivers impacting business performance.
- Develop scenario and sensitivity analyses for important business decisions.
- Establish a structured financial review and performance-management cadence.
- Partner with business teams to improve financial performance and accountability.
Finance Business Partnering
- Work closely with the Founder, CXOs and business heads on financial and strategic matters.
- Translate business plans and operational metrics into financial outcomes.
- Provide insights on growth, profitability, costs, margins and resource allocation.
- Evaluate the financial impact of new initiatives, expansion plans and investments.
- Challenge business assumptions through data and financial analysis.
- Support leadership with commercially sound, data-backed recommendations.
Management Reporting & MIS
- Own monthly MIS and management reporting for the Founder and senior leadership.
- Develop dashboards covering revenue, margins, costs, profitability, cash flow and key business KPIs.
- Drive monthly performance reviews and explain key variances.
- Identify financial risks, trends and opportunities.
- Improve the quality, timeliness and usefulness of management information.
- Convert financial information into clear and actionable business insights.
Financial Analysis & Modelling
- Build and maintain financial models for business planning, forecasting, profitability analysis and investment decisions.
- Analyse P&L, unit economics, cost structures, margins and profitability drivers.
- Develop sensitivity and what-if analyses around key business assumptions.
- Support leadership with financial evaluation of strategic initiatives.
- Provide data-backed analysis for resource allocation and business decisions.
Cash Flow & Working Capital
- Lead cash-flow forecasting and working-capital planning.
- Monitor receivables, payables, inventory and overall cash conversion.
- Identify potential liquidity and cash-flow risks.
- Work with business and operations teams to improve working-capital efficiency.
- Support management in planning funding and liquidity requirements.
Financial Reporting & Controls
- Maintain strong financial discipline across the organization.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and management information.
- Work closely with the accounting and finance team on financial reporting, reconciliations and closing processes.
- Maintain a strong understanding of P&L, balance sheet and cash flows.
- Strengthen financial controls, processes and governance as the company scales.
- Ensure management has reliable and timely financial information for decision-making.
Capex & Investment Planning
- Evaluate the financial implications of major investments and capex proposals.
- Prepare investment cases and return analysis.
- Track capex budgets against actual spending.
- Support leadership in prioritising investments based on financial and strategic returns.
Finance Function Building & Process Improvement
- Strengthen and build scalable finance processes and operating mechanisms as the company grows.
- Standardise budgeting, forecasting, MIS and financial reporting processes.
- Improve financial data quality, reporting efficiency and automation.
- Establish clear KPIs, ownership and review mechanisms across finance and business teams.
- Identify opportunities to improve finance systems, dashboards and reporting infrastructure.
- Build processes capable of supporting the company's next stage of growth.
Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor the existing finance team.
- Progressively build the finance team as the organization scales.
- Hire, develop and retain strong finance talent.
- Create clear ownership and accountability across planning, reporting, accounting and analysis.
- Build a finance team that acts as a strategic business partner to the organization.
What We're Looking For
- 12โ15 years of relevant finance experience.
- Strong overall finance background with experience across financial planning, business finance, reporting and financial analysis.
- Strong experience in AOP, budgeting and forecasting.
- Hands-on financial modelling and analytical capabilities.
- Strong understanding of P&L, profitability, cost structures and business drivers.
- Experience in MIS, management reporting and variance analysis.
- Good understanding of accounting, financial reporting and controls.
- Exposure to working capital and cash-flow management.
- Experience working with business leaders / CXOs / Founders.
- Exposure to capex, investment evaluation and financial decision-making.
- Experience strengthening finance processes in a growing organization.
- Ability to operate across both strategic and operational aspects of finance.
- Strong communication, commercial thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working in a lean, fast-growing and founder-led environment.
- Comfortable working with financial data, dashboards and reporting tools.

- Have the maturity and ambition to gradually take ownership of the broader finance function.
